Communities We Serve

In 2016, HCSC invested more than $23 million in the community through charitable grants, sponsorships and in-kind donations. These efforts created sustainable change throughout our communities and supported a culture of employee volunteerism and giving within our company.

Throughout our 80-year history, Health Care Service Corporation, a Mutual Legal Reserve Company (HCSC) has supported the communities where our employees and members work, live and play because we have a responsibility to address the health and wellness needs of the communities we serve. Through our community involvement efforts, we are creating sustainable change with measurable impact on the health of individuals across our five states. All of these efforts help play a role in improving how the health care system works.

In 2016, HCSC invested more than $23 million in the community through charitable grants, sponsorships and in-kind donations. But our employees went beyond donating money. They volunteered 110,413 hours of their time to support community needs.

Since its launch in 2011, Healthy Kids, Healthy Families® (HKHF) continues to help us improve the lives of children and families in our communities. By working with more than 300 community partners to date, we deliver programs in the areas of  nutrition,  physical activity,  preventing  and  managing  disease, and supporting safe environments  across our states. As a result, more than 21 million  health and wellness services have been delivered throughout Illinois, Montana, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas over the last five years.

In 2016, as a part of the HKHF initiative, we invested nearly $7 million  to support outcomes-based programs with our 115 community partnerships, serving more than 2.5 million  children. From lunch boxes and playgrounds to immunizations and backpacks, we supported hundreds of activities to promote healthy, active and safe communities across our states.
